 Stacey I. Oberly (Ph.D., 2008, University of Arizona), specializes in Southern Ute linguistics, descriptive linguistics, Native American language immersion, language documentation and revitalization, Numic phonetics, Native American education and instrumental phonetics, holds an Assistant Professor of American Indian Studies and Linguistics. Professor Oberly’s most recent scholarly work focuses on voiceless vowels, stress and immersion in Southern Ute. Her current writing focuses on Southern Ute language policy, instrumental phonetic documentation and Native American educational issues. Her seminars and consultant roles has resulted in students working towards a M.A. in Native American linguistics.
